I wanted to give you a book full of hope. So, when I first wrote it, I focused solely on what I thought people wanted to hear. I left out all my pain and the depth that each experience had given to me, and I made sure to keep it light and airy. So, it was no surprise when my first draft lacked authenticity and ended up being shallow, nauseating, and cliché. I needed to dig deeper and accept that part of my experience was dark. I realized that what may seem dark in visible light is bright in other places. We just need to adjust our perspective.
